XL Compare is a fast and flexible application for comparing Excel spreadsheets. It creates easy to understand Excel format reports of the differences between one or more spreadsheets.

There are extensive filtering options to choose exactly what to compare and profiles are stored for easy re-use. There is a command line version for batch jobs or for scheduling comparisons.

Feature list:

  • Compare two spreadsheets or multiple spreadsheets contained in one or more folders.
  • Easy to understand comparison report with a summary page and a detailed report for each workbook with links back to the source worksheets.
  • Filter the comparisons by folder name, spreadsheet name, worksheet name, named ranges or explicit ranges within one or more sheets.
  • Use wildcards or regular expressions to specify the filters.
  • Synchronise comparison where additional rows have been inserted in worksheets.
  • Store details of the comparisons to be made in profiles for easy re-use.
  • Limit the number of differences reported by worksheet, workbook or for the entire comparison.
  • Cancel a comparison at the worksheet, workbook or profile level whilst it is running.
  • Export and import profiles.
  • View most recent report for a profile without re-running the comparison.
  • Use a template for the report
  • Excel not required for comparison
  • Command line interface to run profiles via a batch file allowing scheduled comparisons.
